The 2023 Eritrean Orthodox Conference in Buffalo, New York, held from August 3rd to 6th, brought together clergy, faithful, and youths of the Eritrean Orthodox Church. Attendees, bound by their shared faith, participated in insightful sermons, seminars, and teachings revolving around the conference theme: "But as for me, it is good to be near God" (Psalm 73:28). This theme illuminated a path beyond daily life, fostering a connection with the Triune God.
The halls of St. Mary Eritrean Orthodox Church resounded with timeless hymns and prayers of the Eritrean Orthodox Church, infusing the faithful with a divine presence. The faithful were enriched by the church's profound hymns and Church teachings, reflecting on their faith and their community. The youthful energy injected dynamism, weaving modern reflections into tradition, showcasing the church's resilience.
On August 6, 2023, His Grace Bishop Mekarios consecrated St. Mary Eritrean Orthodox Church. Attendees who came from near and far celebrated the joyous occasion, praising God for His wonderful deeds. The consecrated church, now, stood as a testament to the unwavering and the tireless dedication of those who had poured their hearts and souls into its creation.
As the 3-day conference concluded, a lasting joy remained. Attendees departed with passionate hearts, having witnessed a moment of divine grace.
