On Tuesday, April 18, 2023, the two largest Eritrean Orthodox Church Dioceses in Diaspora were reconciled and restored a full communion with one another. HG Bishop Mekarios, Bishop of the Canonical Eritrean Orthodox Tewahdo Church in Diaspora and his brother HG Bishop Sinoda, Bishop of the Eritrean Orthodox Tewahdo Church Diocese of the Union of Churches Abroad, signed a memo of understanding. |Joint Statement|ትግርኛ|
This unity took place at the office of the Standing Conference of Oriental Orthodox Churches, in New Jersey, USA in the presence of the Standing Conference mediators, His Grace Bishop DAVID of the Coptic Orthodox Church and His Eminence Archbishop VICKEN of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
